Renewable Energy Innovations can provide Utah unique energy storage solutions, in a wide variety of plant sizes from 1MW to 100’s MW. These systems are fully modular, assuring flexibility in plant design capacity, siting, construction and operation.
These units are thermal storage systems that combine latent–heat storage with an energy transport system that achieves both high temperature and high energy transport efficiency. Though originally designed only to store energy from our Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants for non-sunlit periods, the systems are easily adapted to store energy from other power generation sources that are also affected by intermittent production, such as wind and PV solar power. They also can provide reliable backup power when needed. |
These systems can deliver Power on Demand , that is, match a power profile and deliver power as it is needed - not only when it is generated. Units can be designed to store this energy for extended periods, thus making them a perfect emergency power supply for a city or in military applications.
The high storage temperature enables electricity generation using a single-pass, air-driven, Brayton-cycle gas-turbine that offers improved efficiency over existing steam-cycle designs and has no cooling-water requirement.
Additionally, the thermal energy produced by the system lends itself to providing high temperature process heat for a number of applications. |
